Moustiers Faience footed tureen and cover, c. 1760.

France; Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.  Painted in monochrome orange-yellow with scattered flowers and sprigs in the so-called “potato flower” pattern, flanked by lion-mask handles. For a similar example, see Moustiers Ceramics: Gifts from The Eugene V. and Clare E. Thaw Collection, Cooper Hewitt, Exhibition Catalogue, 2 August 2017–21 January 2019, fig. 14. The floral pattern takes its inspiration from textile designs.
