18TH CENTURY FRENCH WALLPAPER PANELS

Early 18th Century French wallpaper mounted on panels.  Titled “La Promenade dans Le Parc a Sans Souci".  (‘A walk in the park, free of cares”).  The caption is 'chiseled' in the faux marble kneeboard, the scene strollers in 18th century costume: a Gentleman greets a Lady and her handmaid, a couple walks arm in arm, a single man stands with his back to the viewer, overlooking the pond. Gouache on paper, laid to linen over plywood, with blue painted frame.  The two panels when joined: 71.75 h. x 81.5” w. x 1 1/8” d.
