Exquisite 18th century Louis XVI transitional two-drawer commode, made by the Parisian ebonist Francois Rubestuck, c. 1765. Tulip-wood and kingwood having marquetry inlay and medallion cast bronzes, with rare Breche d'Alep marble top. Stamped: *Rubestuck on the back of the case. Pieces by Rubestuck can be found in museums in France, the UK, the US, including the Metropolitan Museum.
