This is a rare and superb period Louis XVI settee, c. 1780. It has a sturdy hardwood frame in mahogany or possibly walnut, pegged construction throughout. Elegant clean lines, the molded crest rail above down scrolled padded arms, the legs being carved, fluted and stop-fluted tapered. The central rare legs are chamfered square. This settee is in the style of similar pieces stamped D. JULLIEN and N.D.L.P.S
Was acquired with early silk upholstery which was in poor condition so removed and reupholstered with linen.
