Lady's Diminutive Writing Desk (Petit Escritoire), Louis XV style, made by the Parisian ebeniste Joseph-Emmanuel Zweiner ( c. 1884-1925) in fruitwood parquetry with vine work in the diagonally quartered shaped top, having gilt brass rim and magnificent gilt ormolu mounts on the serpentine case and cabriole legs. Purchased by previous owner at Sotheby's for $29,000. Zwiener was awarded the Gold Medal of the Exposition Universalle in 1889, for cabinetry.
