George III Carton Pierre Mirror, c. 1780, attributed to John Linnell. A very fine carved wood and paper mache composition mirror retaining its original mirror plate. This mirror has been dry stripped and retains its original clay color. John Linnell was among the first of the great 18th century cabinetmakers to incorporate the use of carton pierre, a papier machè type material. 39” h x 18” w.
